Does music need 2.5GbE?

No. Even high-resolution audio uses a small fraction of Gigabit Ethernet. Faster networking mainly helps when importing or backing up a large library.

Should I use HDDs or SSDs?

HDDs provide inexpensive capacity. SSDs are silent and responsive but cost more per terabyte. A small library can use SSDs if silence is the top priority.

Will drive hibernation save power?

It can reduce idle consumption, but frequent wake cycles delay playback and may not suit households that access the NAS throughout the day.

Can I use AirPlay or Chromecast?

Usually through a compatible phone, server application or network player. Support depends more on the chosen software and playback device than the enclosure.

Can a NAS run Roon Server?
